I've hooked up two of them for others. You hook up the router to the coax (or Ethernet) from the ONT to the router they ship you overnight. That supplies the wired and wireless Internet service.It's hard to say but there's usually a reason the system doesn't allow self-install. May be that a tech never came and ran ethernet previously, could be a BPON ONT that needs to be upgraded, or maybe it's legacy VDSL (speed would be limited to 50 Mbps and you didn't mention what speed you chose).
