DayZ Standalone has hit all-time high player numbers, the first time since launch! Really amazing how Namalsk bumped the player count 25% at least. Such a fun map and has drawn a variety of people in with the survival elements. The smaller size, still big for most games, makes it really accessible.

I obviously know the technical differences between a mod and a standalone. The biggest thing for me is the movement. You have more freedom than you realize in standalone, in the mod it is a struggle to move around with precision. The mod feels more robotic, like you have to do one thing at a time.

People will tell you that stand-alone was kind of a way to make a game from the ground-up built for DayZ, it’s true but I think more or less the stand-alone was being made for consoles. The standalone is for people who have played the mod and are ready to "move ahead" and help shape the game to what it aims to be, the reason it's so popular is all the people who have already played and loved the mod "went on" with the Standalone. The only risky canned food is an unknown can, this can get you sick even with a multivitamin. Dog food is safe. I've never got sick from it cat food, dog food or unknown canned food but if you eat the whole can at once you may puke it up. Eat half the can and you'll be fine it isn't poisonous it just teast horrible.
