Sep 1, 2021 · The Tonga Room is iconic, and as one of our first dinner dates, decades ago, was at a lovely “tiki restaurant” at Pontchartrain Beach, in New Orleans, visiting the Tonga Room was high on our list. We were not dining there, but off-property, but wanted to see, and experience the Tonga Room for wine, before departing for dinner. We’re in the middle of San Francisco—on Nob Hill to be exact in the historic Fairmont San Francisco, at the Tonga Room and Hurricane Bar.
