Here is the load that I settled on, and it is a shooter. 140 gr NBT, 42.8 gr IMR 4895, 2.840" aol, cci 200, RP cases, 2700 fps chrono, 1/2" - 3 shot groups. Aug 22, 2015. While I don't have a 7-08 I have used IMR 4064 in .257 Roberts, .30-06 and .35 Whelen, in my experience it has given me better accuracy than Varget and RL-15. But who knows every rifle is an individual, might as well try Varget and RL-15 as they are good choices. I know that to get the best performance out of these kind of bullets, you need to be on the higher end of in terms of velocity. I usually really like 140 gr Barnes TTSX (can't find any, anywhere) for my Savage 7mm-08 using 43.6 grains of RL-15 - good accuracy and no obvious pressure signs. I had one Sako A1 that would shoot less than an inch at 100 yards for five shot groups at 2825 fps with 140 BT's. That was 48.0 grs and flattened primers. My other favorite 7-08 powder is IMR-4350.
