The “GHD” cartouche is definitely way out of place, as it is only correctly found on Trench & Riot Guns manufactured after May 1942. Furthermore, only the WW II production Trench & Riot Guns were marked on the left side of the receiver frame.The original 1897 trench had grooves filed into the barrel to accommodate the screws. The barrel needs the grooves cut in it (as the originals). These grooves are what keep the shield in place under recoil.
