The Smeltery Drain is used to pour liquefied metals in the Tinkers' Construct mod. It requires a Seared Faucet to work. The Smeltery Drain should be placed in the Smeltery so that there is enough room to attach a Seared Faucet to the outside, and put a Casting Table or Casting Basin under the Faucet. Simply right-click the Faucet to pour the metal into the Casting Table faucet. If you want to store liquid metal for tinkers for tool parts, put a Seared Faucet on a Smeltery Tank and place that over a casting table. If you want to store more than 4 buckets put it in a drum and pipe from the drum into the Smeltery Tank. You don't really even need the seared tank. I read the mod book "Materials and You" for Tinkers' Construct 1.12.2-2.10.1.87 and it mentions 11x11 (9x9 internal) being the largest size possible. Verified that 11x11 works in my game, and I'm using a mix of seared bricks and seared stone. Maybe check what your book says for max smeltery size.
