There's a regular greataxe a tiny bit later in the game that you'll probably find, it's got a nearly identical moveset and only requires 22 strength to wield two handed. It's moveset looks like literally only forward vertical ground slams for every single move, though, and I don't meet the INT/FTH req. for it yet (10 INT/FTH can only get you so far ...
