Dec 14, 2014 · A gauge HAS to be used with the corresponding sending unit. There are three commonly used Ohm ratings for fuel gauges. 0-90 Ohm is used commonly on GM products. 70-10 Ohm is common to Ford/Chrysler. 240-33 Ohm is the most commonly used in after market gauges. These three gauges also have compatible sending units. When you’re getting ready to slide the engine into place, jack one rear wheel just barely off the floor. Put the transfer case in 2-high and the transmissions in third. If the transmission input shaft splines don’t line up with the clutch disc splines, turning that back wheel will turn the shaft. A 44S or 45S (S=extended tip [not to be confused with long reach]) would work as well, but may be more susceptible to oil fouling. The “R” signifies a resistor plug. I've heard everything from 3500 to 6000, though 6k seems a little high for a motor with such long connecting rods.
