The problem with Gatling energy guns is that the number that is used is the number of cores. So it's automatically reducing your ammo count to match the number of cores that you have. If you have 3 cores, it'll drop to 3 after the first shot. If you have 100 cores, it'll drop to that number. It almost does that.
There seems to be different mods for Gatling Laser and Ultracite Gatling Laser. In the muzzle department one of them has a beam focuser type thing. That's nice. The weapon doesn't suffer from accuracy issues out of the box so it's not essential. Most Ultracite Gat Laser plans came from the new mole miner event, or duping. The plans are incredibly rare. Census Violence appears to have the best drop rate, followed by AWOL armaments. I run gatling lasers as my main weapon. I primed one once and realized that it takes quite a bit of flux and cores to make a ultracite cores. For 1000 rounds of ammo it's not worth it for gatling lasers. The dmg increase is minimal. Even With regular nuke drops it takes a lot of materials for a few point increase.Mutations. Personally, I use Plasma Caster for one shotting the majority of trash mobs and Gatling Plasma for (mini) bosses, but I do still carry my Gatling Laser. Gatling Laser sits right in the middle with its 999 ammo (if you use Power User), high precision, low recoil, and good damage. If you only carry one heavy gun, (Ultracite) Gatling Laser it is.I have used Gatling Lasers and Plasmas for 2.5 years and >in my opinion< Two Shot is the best effect on an Ultracite Gatling Laser.
