Yes, you have to go through some extra work outside the game, but you can technically have multiple saves with BotW as well. Why on Earth they thought it would be a good design choice to not give us multiple save files is beyond me.

I ASSUME you would go to documents / Avalanche studio folder and open it and drag the save to desktop. Or even just drag the whole folder to be safe. Make a new game and now you have that first one backed up incase you ever want to go back and if so, then you would just switch out the new file with the old.
